About The Author

Hi, I’m Jasper.

I work at the intersection of actuarial science, data science, and artificial intelligence.

Over the past 14 years, I have built my career across insurance pricing, portfolio management, experience studies, machine learning, and analytics leadership. My experience spans life, health, and general insurance, covering both traditional actuarial functions and modern data science applications.

I started my career as an actuary, working on product pricing, participating fund management, experience analysis, and business performance monitoring. Along the way, I became increasingly interested in how machine learning and advanced analytics could complement traditional actuarial methods to solve business problems more effectively.

That curiosity led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Analytics at Singapore Management University and eventually transition into data science, where I worked with insurers and reinsurers across Asia to apply machine learning techniques to pricing, portfolio optimisation, customer behaviour analysis, and business growth initiatives.

Today, my work focuses on helping organisations make better decisions through a combination of actuarial expertise, analytics, and AI. I have had the opportunity to work on challenges ranging from managing multi-billion-dollar insurance portfolios and developing pricing strategies to building predictive models and exploring the practical application of generative AI within actuarial workflows.

Beyond my professional work, I actively contribute to the actuarial profession through data analytics and AI initiatives. I currently serve on the Singapore Actuarial Society’s Data Analytics Committee and contribute to the International Actuarial Association’s AI initiatives, where I work with fellow professionals to explore how emerging technologies can enhance actuarial practice.

This blog is where I share my thoughts, experiments, and lessons learned across actuarial science, data analytics, machine learning, AI, and business transformation.

My belief is simple: the future belongs to professionals who can combine deep domain expertise with modern analytical tools. Actuarial science, data science, and AI are not competing disciplines—they are complementary capabilities that become most powerful when used together.

I hope the ideas shared here help others navigate that intersection and create meaningful impact through data.
